Synopsis

The village of Horenka is one of those settlements that took the blow in the first days of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops in February 2022. Though the settlement avoided occupation, it suffered significant shelling and destruction. The village administration left Horenka in the first days of the war, and the local people took power by organizing a territorial defence detachment and a humanitarian headquarters. This is a story about the phenomenon of spontaneous self-organization of people in the time of total chaos. This is a chronicle of the struggle for survival of a group of people who decided to stay in their village and save it from destruction. After the shelling and fires, they will face a new struggle with the authorities, which has returned to Horenka after all the events and which the locals no longer trust. People want to elect a new authority ahead of schedule and build their lives differently.
