The village of Gorenka is located in Ukraine near the city of Kyiv. It is one of the locations that took the hit during the first days of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces in February 2022. Having escaped occupation, the settlement was subjected to heavy shelling and destruction. More than 50 families in Gorenka and the neighbouring village of Moschun were left homeless, their homes and property completely destroyed. Most of these people are forced to live in sheds or huts made of plastic sheeting, they do not know where they will spend the winter.
The war in Ukraine continues, but after six months thousands of people have lost the roof over their heads. Many of them have nowhere to spend the winter. As long as it's warm outside, they live outdoors in tents, huts or barns. But in four months it will be freezing in Ukraine, and living in such conditions will be impossible. The scale of the war is colossal, with a huge number of homes and infrastructure destroyed. The Ukrainian government has never before had to deal with such problems. Under the prevailing conditions, the authorities cannot effectively help such a huge number of people who have been left homeless at the same time.
Artists working with different media - photography, lithography, graphics, film - joined together in The Gorenka Chronicles project to draw attention to the problem that has developed in one particular locality - the village of Gorenka.

The houses are manufactured by the Ukrainian company “Modul group”, whose factory is located in Kiev, Ukraine. The choice of a Ukrainian manufacturing company makes it possible to create jobs in these difficult times, optimise logistics and direct tax money towards the country's reconstruction needs.
